Acts 7--59..60
59 While they were stoning him, Stephen appealed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
60 Falling on his knees, he cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
notice he calls out to Jesus to receive his spirit, this is very telling, as we know God only could receive someones spirit, so we must conclude Jesus and God are one, just as Jesus said "if you have seen me you have seen the father" (John 14--9)
we can also conclude that Jesus is in heaven so it only makes sense that our spirits goes to heaven to be with the Lord.
"fell asleep" is interesting phrase we see used many times in the bible, reading the verse in full context we know Stephen is being stoned to death, therefore we most conclude that fell asleep is a reference used to describe death.
my prayer is that all truly come know Jesus, and to truly know Jesus, is to know Jesus is God in the flesh.
