Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3 NLT
Have you ever drawn up what you think is a great plan—perhaps at work or for your church—only to find that the enthusiasm for it is solely yours? The harsh reality is that no matter how good you think an idea or plan is, you still need the approval of those in position to make the final decisions.
Your ultimate authority in all things is your Father in heaven, and in today’s verse, Solomon offers a great bit of wisdom when it comes to planning. The best way to handle your own plans, he writes, is to start by committing what you want to do to your ultimate Boss, the One who sits on His throne in heaven.
Many seemingly great plans, even plans for what looks like a great ministry, have failed because those with the vision failed to first submit their work to God. Planning is an important part of most great or important things you do for God’s kingdom. Then again, before you launch out with your plan, make sure you have the go-ahead from the ultimate decision-maker.
Prayer: Father, Your written Word stresses the importance of good planning, but it also tells me I need to submit all my actions to You. Please remind me to submit what I’m thinking about doing to You for Your approval and direction.
