Now then, let the fear of the LORD be upon you. Be careful what you do, for there is no injustice with the LORD our God, or partiality or taking bribes." 2 Chronicles 19:7 ESV
As Jehoshaphat established his reign in the land of Judah, he took particular pains to appoint judges who could not be swayed by bribes or biased toward certain parties. He even went as far as reminding his judges that they should fear God, remaining aware of His justice in their own judgments.
You may not have the same responsibility as these judges, but its good advice to remain aware of God’s presence and justice when making decisions or relating to others. As God watches over His people, He demands fairness in their dealings to the point that those who cheat their neighbors should fear His response.
God is already searching your heart and knows what’s behind your motivation and choices, and the stakes are even higher for judgments and decisions that could harm your neighbors. You better believe that God will take notice! That is why He requires that we apply wisdom and compassion toward others in every situation.
Prayer: Lord, grant me wisdom and compassion in my dealings with others.
