ATTENTION - WHAT DO YOU 'SEE' ?

@Br. Bear,

' And they said one to another,
Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly.
And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower,
whose top may reach unto heaven;
and let us make us a name,
lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.'
(Gen 11:3-4)

'And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage,
in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field:
all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.'
(Exo 1:13)

'And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore:
let them go and gather straw for themselves.
And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them;
ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle;
therefore they cry, saying," Let us go and sacrifice to our God."
Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein;
and let them not regard vain words.'
(Exo 5:6-9)

'I have spread out My hands all the day unto a rebellious people,
which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;
A people that provoketh me to anger continually to My face;
that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick; (See Exodus 20:25)
Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments,
which eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;
Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou.
These are a smoke in My nose, a fire that burneth all the day.'
(Isa 65:2-5)

* What a productive journey could be made along the pages of Scripture, with the study of the situations surrounding the humble brick it contains: eg., the building of the tower of Babel and the constructions within Egypt, as illustrated above. (see also 'hewn' and 'stone')

* Look at the assessment of the Egyptians regarding the cries of the children of Israel that they may go and sacrifice to God, in Exodus 5:6-9 (above). They call them, 'vain words!' How typical of the attitude of the world to God their Creator.

Thank you Br. Bear
Chris

Hi @Br. Bear,

Brick 'D' I believe is used for drainage pipes within the structure of a building. It would not be part of the external structure of the building, but of the inner structure unseen by the eye, yet performing an important function. This reminds me of those people who do the jobs no one else wants, like cleaners, caretakers, lavatory attendants, those people who maintain drains and sewage disposal pipes. Who put out the hymn books in the pews in church before everyone arrives, and then collects them and puts them away at the end of the meeting. Those who clean and maintain the building, and the heating pipes. Unsung hero's of the mundane and uninteresting, without which everything would come to a grinding halt.

Brick 'D' could also be the lower part of a pair of concrete trousers, an Irish pair, which has no gap between the legs (I can say this because I have Irish blood in my veins, and am quite happy to laugh at myself) :p

:love:

'Ye are the salt of the earth:
but if the salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be salted?
it is thenceforth good for nothing,
but to be cast out,
and to be trodden under foot of men.'
(Mat 5:13)

Hi @Br. Bear,

Fig 'F' has been sadly neglected I think: and I am not surprised, for it's surface looks scaly and unsavoury, and so it casts doubt as to the durability of the whole block to me. For what is scaly and flaky on the outside, could also be scaly and flaky on the inside, and therefore not be a good medium for the structure of anything sound. It looks as though it would be chalky and therefore porous, so no good for a sea wall structure, or anything which requires to keep out the wind and rain.

Outside my window on this Boxing Day, the sky is dark and it looks like rain, the type of weather which you would not want to have if your building was constructed out of this particular material. ( The water has also been turned off because of a broken water pipe, so we have no water: and the telephone call from the water company telling us about this came only after the water was turned off, so we have not been able to fill a container with water to see us through the day!)

Fig 'F' could of course be Block Salt, and not a building material at all. Used to spread on the roads in times of ice and snow: that would account for it's outward appearance. Though salt which has lost it's savour (Matthew 5:13), it is a very valuable commodity: with an important purpose to fulfill. It just goes to show that you can't judge by appearances.

Thank you Br. Bear.

:)

It's no good @Br. Bear, I can't leave 'E' out, I feel duty bound to give it it's time in the spotlight. :blush:

'E' looks like an unhewn rock, so appropriate for building an alter unto God in the Old Testament. Yes? It has not suffered from the interference of man, it's surface is worn by the element, or by being on the bed of a stream, providing protection for little water based creatures, who have made their homes beneath it. It could be used in dry stone walling at a pinch. It would make a good rock to heat up and hug in the wilderness, when a hot water bottle is nowhere to be found.

That, you will be pleased to know is about the last of my responses, I am now running on empty.

With love in Christ Jesus
Chris

Thank you every one for your replies!

I am so glad to see some more.

I intend to move on to the 'next' part soon.

Thank you again and thank you for your patience and kindness towards each other!!!

Bless you ....><>

material that man uses to build things. Unless the Lord builds the house they labor in vain. TheLord uses imperishable material that is eternal.

Congressional hearings were convened today when the budget oversight committee learned that the Army was paying Bob the Builder $475.00 each for a "Portable but significantly dense impact object for hand to hand combat" commonly known by others as a "brick." Costs were attributed to surcharges made since such items are actually multi-purpose. Additional concerns regarding the missed delivery date for the PBSDIOFHHCs were dismissed as "Routine supply chain disruptions."

Hello @Rhema,

I am innocent of all charges pertaining to this offence, your honour. To me a brick, is a brick, is a brick. How others choose to use it, is beyond my control!!! :sob:

Breaking news tonight. In response to the testimony submitted to the Congressional Budget Oversight Committee where Bob the Builder replied - "I am innocent of all charges pertaining to this offence, your honour. To me a brick, is a brick, is a brick. How others choose to use it, is beyond my control!!! " Mr. Builder has been held in contempt of Congress, his trial to start in mid April pending the release of his personal tax returns. Wall Street responded with shares of BTB losing 63%.

'For which of you, intending to build a tower,
sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost,
whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation,
and is not able to finish it,
all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying,
This man began to build, and was not able to finish.'

Not sure if this is an active post still, or if has tapered off. On page 1 when I first saw the image of Stone A. And being asked, "What do I see?" The first thought that came to my mind is. Myself, being hand hewn by the Savior. Lovingly crafted into something yet to be fully seen. As I viewed the other photos and read some of the other first page posts, I thought "C" was me before Christ, "B" Christ preparing me for Himself. And "A" an overlay of Him, "The Rock" filling in the holes and fashioning me like unto Him. When I got to page 2, I saw another hint-relating to manufacturing. So, now I perhaps am confused as to where this is all going. Hopefully, more answers on page 3. Although I did note that @complete referred to "living stones"
