Many do. I believe that many times its due to their experiences in life and other sites.
In time, if approached with great patience and love, the walls they have built to protect themselves are slowly brought down. Never completely gone, but enough so that they come to see the fellowship in iron sharpening iron instead of the never-ending battles they have experienced whenever they communicate with others. At least there is hope in that while they are here. One can do this without compromising what one believes.

You'd be surprised, or maybe not, on how people when they first join and get attacked react to it. Some come here just seeking a restful change (oasis so to speak) from the world's attacks they get everywhere else. So, they leave at the first sign of resistance believing they can't have restful/joyful discussions on God's Word. While even others hope or maybe expect a bit more civility from people even when disagreed with from a site that is supposed to have believers in Christ Jesus and when it doesn't happen right away, they leave. That is more my issue with some folks here who are members than the actual theology. lol

Founding of anything with a people who may have had no foundation of anything different, does have its problems as Paul knew. A gentle nudge for the willing, a more pointed smack around the ears for the stubborn, or even a kick in the rump for the contrary seemed to be the order of the day for these newly established worshippers in Christ Jesus. He knew how powerful the pull of the flesh was and how it could affect them.

Some folks, maybe like this member just need to step, back in prayer, seeking guidance of the Holy Spirit on how to move forward when it doesn't go your way. Still for me there is no excuse for not being civil, to someone who just joined and that really was my point. I won't let my son who lives with me abuse a guess I've invited to come in. If there are issues, then come to me and at least allow me the opportunity to resolve the issue is normally all I ask. Don't go about abusing the guests. Glad you have a thick skin so to speak, though it is not skin that it is made up of. \o/
