I wanted a relationship with the Lord ever since I heard that this was possible, I was 18! The longing inside of my heart for our Lord Jesus Christ was huge! I knocked on the door for 12 years until Jesus personally came to me. Now we are in a relationship almost for 5 years!
You may criticize me for this, but from personal experience accepting Lord only by reading the sinners prayer is NOT enough! He didn't came to me, he did not touch my soul or transformed me, when I just read the sinners prayer! I was still living in sin, because God did not came to live inside of me back then to give His power and show His glory through the way I live my life.
After Jesus came at last, I was set free from sin and I am telling you, He came, He touched my soul and transformed me.
What does it mean?
It means constant teamwork with Jesus. You don't rely on God strength or your own strength alone. Both your and God's strength work together, because as a born again Christian you love things that God loves and hate things that God hates. That's why resisting sin and things of the devil is made easy!

PS! Never stop knocking on God's door. He will open, when time is right! Be persistent and most of all...be patient!
