I've no idea how many of the protesters were being paid to protest, all i can say is that the interviews with the protesters that i saw showed a pretty clear understanding of why they were protesting, which was, the actions of ICE and Border Control officers in enforcing what they saw as Trumps brutal anti immigration policies.
I'd be interested to see the link where one of the protesters said she was earning $200,000 a year as a paid protester, was there any official verification of this claim , as we all know just how easy it is in this age of mass communication to portray fiction as fact and i would imagine that there are also forces at work paying to disrupt the protests and portray the protesters in a bad way, Thats just the corrupt nature of humanity i'm afraid.
Where do you get your facts from to substantiate your claim that "the majority of them" are being paid to protest, i'd be interested to see that.?
For myself , the issue is clear, Christ commanded his followers to love their neighbours, to treat others as they'd like to be treated and in Matthew 25 :43, condemned those that turned the stranger away to "everlasting punishment". We can debate the practicalities of such a position, we can look for difficulties or long term solutions, but to me it seems the underlying principle is clear, as a Christian, a follower of Christ, we are to follow his commandments whether or not they conflict with our own moral or political ideals.
Hi Rad,
As far as knowing the "truth" that we see bandied around on social media and M S M ... will we ever know what is true?
Where do we put our focus?
I decided to do this study for myself, and thought that I would share it : )
Jeremiah 17:5 delivers the strongest warning: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD." This verse contrasts the cursed state of those relying on human strength with the blessed state of those trusting in God (verses 7-8).
Psalm 118:8-9 states: "It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes." This emphasizes that even powerful human leaders are unreliable compared to God.
Matthew 24:6 states: "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come." political parties and elites play these games, and that is how they create the bulk of their wealth.
Isaiah 2:22 commands: "Cease from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he?" This highlights the frailty and temporality of human life compared to God's eternality.
Psalm 146:3-4 warns: "Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish."
Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
Isaiah 31:1 pronounces woe on those "who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the LORD."
Micah 7:5 advises: "Put no trust in a friend; have no confidence in a close companion."
Matthew 24:11 states: "And many false prophets will arise and mislead many."
We should also know our enemy, however at the End of the Day, God wins!
2 Corinthians 2:11 is the most direct command regarding understanding the enemy's tactics: "...so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs" (ESV). This verse explicitly states that believers must not be unaware of Satan's strategies to avoid being taken advantage of.
1 Peter 5:8 commands vigilance and recognition of the enemy's behavior: "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." This verse identifies the enemy as the devil and describes his predatory nature.
Focus on The Lord for Only God will take us Home.
Ephesians 6:12 clarifies who the enemy is, distinguishing spiritual foes from human ones: "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places."
Ephesians 6:11 instructs believers to prepare specifically against the devil's methods: "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil."
2 Corinthians 11:14 warns that the enemy disguises himself: "And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light." Knowing this tactic is essential to avoiding deception.
Matthew 7:15 advises vigilance against false prophets who are agents of the enemy: "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves."
