Greetings,
I am not a mathematician but here goes,
Have you ever 'climbed' stairs? If not, you're not missing much, unless the stairway is the only way to get somewhere. For this 'picture' I would like to start at the bottom of the stairway.
If you count the stairs as you go up them, the first one you step onto is number 1, then 2 then 3 etc. Where you are standing at the bottom of the stairs is the ground and is not a step/stair. There is no stair anywhere at ground level. so my theory based on this exercise is that 0 doesn't then exist,
Same goes as if you were at ground level and came to a stairway that led down. The first step down is number -1 then number -2, -3 etc. but the ground level is not a stair or step. It exists but it is not a step/stair so therefore does not exist as one, or more correctly as zero.
I know that for convenience sake we like to add it to our counting but it only is put there to somehow define what is not there.
So, does 0 actually exist?
Many lost souls are content to believe that when you die, that's it. A bit like not existing, being a zero. But please be warned and understand that that is only a convenience way of looking at death.
Death has been made to look like all sorts of both terrible and awful things. Some individuals and cults even like to colour it up and add some queer stuff to it, to make it appear like something it is not in order to entice others into their way of thinking but many poor souls prefer to claim it is an end, rather than a place of beginning or perhaps more correctly, a place of continuation.
Look at the butterfly...
the caterpillar builds a cocoon and then enters it. After a few days it emerges as a butterfly. At what point did the caterpillar cease to be a caterpillar and at what point did the butterfly become a butterfly? It wasn't the instant it zipped up it's sleeping bag nor the instant it unzipped it. During those few days in it's chrysalis is like the zero stage or place. Neither caterpillar nor butterfly 'exist' but at the same time, they do. Both caterpillar and butterfly are real and are essentially the same wonderful work of the Creator but they have undergone a change.
In the same way, a man in sin is lost in darkness but he exists and is not a zero. Perhaps we could say he is merely a grub. If He enters into the cocoon of the Word of God he will emerge a beautiful butterfly with a newness of life that was previously impossible for him to attain, a new creature and unlike butterflies, he will live forever.
In the beginning was the Word... John 1:1 Note, The Scripture does not say, 'in the beginning was zero'
Bless you ....><>
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.
He came unto His own, and His own received him not.
But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
