[h=3]1 Peter 5:8-9[/h]King James Version (KJV)

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

EasyEnglish Bible Translation
v8 Think seriously and watch carefully. Be ready, because your enemy, the *Devil, walks about like a lion (a big wild animal). He is like a lion that makes loud noises. He is looking for someone that he can eat. v9 Refuse to obey the *Devil. Instead, be strong against him because you choose to believe God strongly. Remember that, all over the world, Christians like you are having the same kind of troubles and pain

8 We should remain alert and focused on what He wants fromus. We should be determined to serve the Lord as He leads and not let thingsstop us this does not mean we should do anything to do the Lord’s will becauseif it truly is the Lord’s will, He will not lead us to sin but the devil willwant temptations of sins to be thrown are way. God compared Cain’s anger to ananimal ready to attack; the devil may use our emotions to get the best of usbut we are not to serve based on emotions but on Christ. The devil wants tokeep us away from God’s will so to keep God’s will from happening and it wouldkeep us from blessings that we get from serving Him if we are not doing Hiswill.

9 We should not follow the ways of the flesh this is whatthe devil wants of us. If we are following God with our all then the devil cannot stop us but often times he slows us down and slowly we look at what isaround us and find that we have stopped serving the Lord. The church has beenthru all we have, this means we can go to certain Christians we trust to giveadvice or help for us to overcome the clasp of the devil so we can serve Godmore effectively.
