[h=1]2 Peter 2:19-20King James Version (KJV)[/h]19 While they promise themliberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man isovercome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
20 For if after they have escapedthe pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour JesusChrist, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worsewith them than the beginning.
New European Version
19 promisingthem liberty, while they are in fact slaves to corruption. For of whom a personis overcome, of the same is he also brought into bondage. 20 For if, after theyhave escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord andSaviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latterend is worse for them than the beginning.

19 These are referring to false teachers and false prophets.<st1lace w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Liberty</st1:city></st1lace> issomething God gave us; He gave us grace which gives us liberty from sin. Thisis what false teachers seem to teach but they often add to this or take awayfrom by saying you need grace but you need to do… They are not of Christ sothey follow after something else and are motivated by something else, one ofthe ways to see a false prophet other than their teaching is what motivatesthem if it is not Christ than most likely they are a false teacher or one whohas gone astray, either way if their motivation is not Christ than they shouldnot be teaching. Man’s teaching often keeps us bound to the law or a law theycreate and truly does not allow us the liberty that God gave us when Christdied on the cross.

20 When need to rely on Christ and His word then listen tothe teachings of man to see by the word if they are from God. Most that fallvictim to false teachers are those who have not studied the word forthemselves.
