A Psalm of David. I will sing of mercy and justice; To You, O LORD, I will sing praises. Psalm 101:1 NKJV

David was a king, a poet, and a shepherd. He was a champion, a man after God’s own heart, and a songwriter. His songs weren’t about breakups, country living, or the latest trends. David’s words were for and about God. What was David’s motive? God’s love, His justice, and the need to praise God for all He does.

Throughout his life, David was an example of a man who took heart, a man who needed to take heart, and a man who was grateful to God for the reward of taking heart.

Being heartened isn’t necessarily an emotional response, but the result can be emotional. It is not a knee-jerk reaction, but it can cause you to spend time on your knees. It’s not even a promise of a perfect answer, but God’s answer will be perfect. If that sounds like a contradiction, you should know that God won’t always answer your prayers the way you expect Him to, but the end result might just exceed your expectations.

You have decisions to make every day. Your choice could be despair or trust. It will always start with believing God is good, trustworthy, and strong.

Prayer: I want to be encouraged, Lord, and I want to remember who encouraged me. Help my mouth form words of gratitude.
