A rich man made a 'deal'...with God....
"When time shall come...to die
Can I take my 'treasure' with me
To YOUR Place...up in the 'sky'?"
"You must look at your possessions...
Then...convert them into gold.
And on 'that day'...just carry
All of it...that you can hold."
And so he did...as he'd been told...
He packed the gold away.
He settled down with peace of mind....
Then...soon it came...'THAT day.'
Upon arriving at the 'gate'...
St. Peter...wore a grin,
And he said. "Welcome Brother!
Get your stuff...and come on in!"
He pulled and tugged and struggled,
Pretty soon he had it all.
(Exhausted...he decided
If he moved it...more...he'd fall.)
He found a small box he could tote
St. Peter waved him on
His 'treasure' sat beside the 'gate'
Long after he was gone.
One Spring...when cleaning time came 'round
The boxes...fell apart.
St. Peter saw the contents....
"Why...it's PAVEMENT...bless his heart!"
