Jesus said to her, "Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brothers and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.'" John 20:17 LSB
Two days ago, you read that Mary Magdalene was on a hill looking on as Jesus died. She was encouraged by having two friends with her. Two agonizing nights passed. On the third day, Mary went to Jesus’ tomb, but when she arrived, she experienced confusion.
She was told by angels that Jesus was no longer there; she made an assumption without asking questions. She thought someone had taken Jesus’ body. This was a cruel act, and if it were true, it simply amplified her grief.
Mary met a man she thought was a groundskeeper and begged him to tell her where Jesus had been taken. Mary was losing heart. But the man standing before her was Jesus.
Everything Mary had assumed was impossible was proven possible, and her heart was filled to overflowing with joy and encouragement. Jesus told her to take her full heart and “go tell this to all My brothers.”
Don’t keep silent about what you know. Let God speak good news through your voice, in the words you write, and in the things you do. Taking heart means never keeping God and His goodness to yourself.
Prayer: I don’t want to keep good news hidden, Lord. When You encourage me, help me encourage others.
