Though the LORD [is] on high, Yet He regards the lowly; But the proud He knows from afar. Psalm 138:6 NKJV
The God we serve, with whom we share an intimate love relationship, is a great and awesome God who occupies a lofty place in His eternal kingdom. He is exalted above anything and everything. And yet He looks at us from afar and cares for us, loves us, and watches over us day and night.
David felt overwhelmed at the thought of such an awesome God caring for mere human beings. David was a flawed man, but he was also a humble man—and that gave him confidence that the Lord was paying attention and that He would never fail to help him, encourage him, and strengthen him both in the relatively easy times and in times of difficulty and testing.
You can and should feel a sense of awe and wonder that such an awesome God watches over you, loves you, and cares for you from His throne in heaven—as long as you keep yourself humble before Him.
What an awesome God He is!
Prayer: Father in heaven, You are a great and awesome God, but You still look from afar, from Your throne in heaven, to watch over and care for those willing to humble themselves before You. Help keep me humble so that I can feel the assurance of Your blessed presence.
