And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, "Abba, Father." Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir. Galatians 4:6-7 NLT

Sadly, many men go through most of their lives with what are commonly called “father wounds”—the sometimes-severe negative emotional consequences of growing up with a physically or emotionally distant/absent father. Such a man may later have difficulty bonding emotionally with others—and he may also find it hard to think of God as a loving heavenly Father.

Perhaps you can identify with that scenario.

Galatians 4:6-7 offers great encouragement to any Christian man, especially the one who grew up in a home with an absent or distant father. This passage defines God as a personal, loving Father who wants His people to address Him as “Abba”—Daddy.

Whether or not you had an emotionally available earthly father, you have a Father in heaven who loves you—deeply and perfectly—and wants a spiritually/emotionally intimate, affectionate Father-son relationship with you.

Prayer: Loving heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and for adopting me into Your eternal family. Thank You for giving me the privilege of addressing You as my own Father—as “Daddy.”
