A Man After Gods Own Heart

1 Samuel 13:13-14 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. 14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

This morning on my way to work, the Lord spoke to me about what actually is a man after Gods own heart. Simply put, a man after Gods own heart is a man that is after the will of God for his life and not his own. This man is not after his own plans, he is not after his own personal agenda, he is not after his own dreams, but is always seeking what the Lord would have him to do, and he is always seeking the will of the Lord for his life. He is a man after Gods own heart. After him showing me this he took me to the scripture were John the Baptist says in John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. The whole idea here in this verse is a renunciation of self. For one to have a heart after the Lord one must surrender ones way to the Lords way. I ministered I message a while back entitled follow me, and gave an analogy of two people hand cuffed together with different agenda’s, needless to say they are not going to go the same direction. when we go the oppisite way of the Lords way we are fighting against him, When we follow the Lord we must surrender fully and allow the Holy Spirit to go the direction he wants to go, we must never get out in front of him; the scripture says how can two walk together except they agree? The believers will and will power must be brought to the place of death which is the Cross, only the Holy Spirit can accomplish this work in a believer’s heart. Sometimes the Lords way is not an easy path, but certainly a rewarding one. He says in Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. On our journey with the Lord Jesus Christ I can assure you one thing; the Lord will never go the direction you think he will.

The Lord then began to confirm this word to me by taking me to Acts 13:22 were the Apostle Paul was speaking to the those in the synagogue at Antioch and it says And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will. Notice he says which shall fulfill all my will. I recall Jesus in the gospel of Matthew making a very bold statement when he was speaking of those whose fruit was rotten, he says Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. He that does his will; this is a man after Gods own heart. For the Kingdom of heaven is his. He goes on to say in the next verse Matthew 7:22 many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? It’s clear by him making this statement that he is pointing to those who are living under the Law. Those that are living under law are going the wrong direction and must learn to trust the Lord fully, I am so glad in my own personal life for the patience the Lord has had with me as I am sure many feel the same. God strongly desires for us all to become a man or a women after his own heart. Nothing will be accomplished for the Lord otherwise. The only thing that will be rewarded in heaven is that which the Holy Spirit was able to do through us. Not what we did on our own, if God has not conceived it, if God has not birthed it. If God has not visualized it for your Life then you are wasting your time!

I will leave you with this scripture although more could be said I try to keep these notes to a minimum,Psalm 59:9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.

I truly do love brother Samuel!! First if he did not pray to God it was sin!!( 1 Samuel 12:23)which leads to Obedience( 1 sam 15:22) which THEN!!! leads to sacrifice!!( 1 Samuel 16:5! These rules of the Spirit apply to us today!

It has not been the Lord who has changed.(Malachi 3:6,Hebrews 13:8) From the old to now,Jesus has not changed, but many of his people have looked to make a change. They have looked to water down the Word of God,it is just to hard they say!! YES!!! It is a difficult road!! If it were not, everyone would do it!!

That is why so few find the narrow road,or can stay on it! 1 John 2:3-11!! LOVE is on the narrow road!! To follow Jesus we have to go on this road! Thank you so much Crossline!! I can truly see you understand the Word of God,and!!! better then this!! the meaning!! Thanks so much for letting us SEE Jesus in you!!

Thank you Brighthouse for your kind words. and thanks for taking time to reply God Bless

IS THIS David ?

<DIR>2Sa 12:9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. </DIR>

I tend to agree that, as much as a man with a fallen nature can, David pursued the will of God in his life.

But... I believe the LORD showed me exactly what this scripture means. There was something in David that reflected the heart of God over and over: Forgiveness, mercy, and grace.

Consider how he merely cut a piece of Saul's robe instead of simply murdering him. God could simply give us all what we deserve, but He doesn't, does He?

Consider how he pursued peace with Saul, even when Saul showed no compassion and despised him. God does that with the lost, doesn't He?

Consider how David even extended grace to Saul's very children when Saul was gone, treating him as if he was his very own. This is grace most men cannot even begin to fathom, the kind of grace God extends to us as His adopted, no?

I think these are the ways in which God recognizes that David was a man after His own heart.
