The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet [you] with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV
Kids living in complete families have a way of almost deifying their fathers. In their young minds, Dad is strong enough to move mountains--or at least fix the chain on their bicycles. And they really hit the jackpot if their he-man daddy also regularly speaks words of love and affection.
While it's sadly true that not all fathers are like the one above, there is one perfect Father who embodies everything his child could ever need or want. Today's verse represents a God who is mightily able to do what no man can do--save! And it's a picture of an affectionate heavenly Father whose deep love for His people moves Him to joyful singing.
God isn't just your heavenly Father, He's your perfect heavenly Father. He's infinitely strong and mighty, yet tender and affectionate in His love. And while you may at times feel unworthy of that kind of love, today's verse can be your source of assurance that He loves you, that He delights in you, and He rejoices over you as one of His own children.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being a mighty warrior who loves me so affectionately and joyfully.
