This is a testimony of our God's healing power , Mike is a missionary visited Uganda in 2007. He shared his testimony with me and it touched my heart and wanted to share it with you all.
A miracle at the Cost of a 10 second Prayer
APOO MARY GORRETTY CHRONOLOGY
1, I traveled to Africa on a short term team and met Apoo Mary Gorretty and her sister. They had been raped by a man, who believed that having sex with a virgin would cure him of his HIV/AIDS. And Both girls tested positive for HIV.
2, After I returned from the short term mission trip and after praying about it , I emailed the country director asking permission to correspond with Apoo Mar Gorretty.
3, I got permission to send letters, and sometime after receiving letter #1 from her.
I saw a program on how anti-virals could be purchased in Africa for about $40/month. The line in Appoo Mary Gorretty’s letter called out to me:
“I believe God loves me, that is why I am still alive AND MEET FRIENDS LIKE YOU”.
4, I emailed the country director (who is a saint, especially for taking on un-needed extra work associated with this act of compassion) and asked if I could pay for Apoo Mary Gorretty and her sister’s anti-virals. He replied I could.
5, I counted the cost: $1000/yeare for 10 years of additional life expectancy would be $10,000 and I committed to this very very short, ten second prayer every day: “God, please please a Lazarus miracle for Apoo Mary Gorretty and her sister”. That was as long as the prayer was.
6, Before treatment was started it was necessary to get both girls tested to see where they were in the infection cycle. First test, negative. Professionals were confused. Apoo Mary’s second letter had a sentence: “The prayers that you offer for me every day have helped me”.
7, Professionals were concerned about a false negative, and so waited two months before Mary and her sister were tested a second time. HIV negative. Cured. And the lines in Mary’s third letter:
“I am happy because it is God’s plan for us to know each other”….
“I thank you that your prayers that have made me better”
And the email from the country director: “People in Kumi believe it is a miracle”
INDEED, A MIRACLE AT THE COST OF A 10 SECOND PRAYER.
Apoo Mary’s last message to me: Thank you very much for your love, especially your prayers. May God bless you.
8, And God did bless me because I met Apoo Mary. What a blessing.
