A Self-Authenticating Gospel?

Most people think that Christianity is thoroughly unscientific. Even those who teach theology in colleges and universities tell their students that there is no proof for the existence of God. And of course, there is no proof that the Bible is the Word of God. These things must be taken by faith. Supporting faith through the use of evidence is all wrong.

Well, I think these professors are all wrong. They think that faith is a leap in the dark. But it is really a leap into the light. Jesus was not unscientific. He used certain evidences to show people like us that He was and is the Son of God. Listen to what Jesus Himself says, "The witness I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me" (John 5:36).

Jesus did not come onto the scene and simply announce that He was the Son of God and then tell people to believe in Him. Jesus came working miracles. He healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out demons. Even His enemies admitted this. "The chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were saying, `What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs'" (John 11:47). Jesus approached people through His miracles which were the evidence He was and is God's Son. "Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me; otherwise believe on account of the works themselves" (John 14:11).

So if you have an aversion to blind leaps of faith, you had better consider Jesus Christ. He does not want you to blindly follow Him. He gives you solid reasons to believe in Him.

hebrews 11v1;faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for,the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld.

Its interesting how mankind put their faith in all sorts of things. That our car will get us safely to work, that you can trust a policeman, that a government you vote into power has your welfare at heart, you have faith in your partner that he/she will remain faithful to you.All sorts of things that we put our faith in every day.Trouble is our faith is often missplaced and when we put it in a human source we are often let down.

On the flip side we have faith the sun will rise everyday, there will be air to breathe and there will be water to drink.Whenever our faith is placed with something that originates with God it is always rewarded.

The greatest testimony of the truth , and authentisity of Jesus Christ , is the testimony of a saved soul ! When a life is changed by the power in the name of Jesus , who can deny the truth in his existence ? Jesus is Alive ! Mike

Amen brother!!!! We do not serve just a historical figure. Yes Jesus is historical(notice I said is and not was), and He is ifinitely so much more, which is why we must enter into a growing relationship full of intimacy. To be recipients of all that God has for us, we must be working towards know who the person of Jesus the Christ IS and not just who He was. Again, AMEN brother Mike Good Preaching!!

Proofs

I have found many proofs of Jesus Christ. He changed my life, he entered human history and overcame death, and the creation tells of the handiwork of God. The numerous Old Testament prophecies were given for use as a witness - see Lk 24:27-32,
Heb 1:1-2, Acts 8:30-35, I Pet 1:10-12, Eph 2:20, and Acts 26:27-28. They are found by those who seek, and we find that the teachings of Jesus Christ about Himself, along with events of His Life and Passion, were already foretold. The first church used them a lot in witness because there is no way for Man to deny or duplicate such foretelling.
