JOY is,
1. Gladness.
2. A cause of Gladness.
3. To Rejoice.
[Definition and Codification from Chambers Compact Dictionary Ed. 1969.].
1. Gladness: The first expression of Joy that springs to mind is found in Nehemiah. 8:10!
In Chapter 8. Ezra the Scribe brought out the Book of the Law of Moses which the Lord had commanded for Israel.
Ezra the Priest brought the Law before the Assembly ......... men and women who were able to understand.
Ezra praised the Lord, the Great God;
and all the people lifted their hands and responded, "Amen! Amen!"
The People were weeping as they heard the Law, (Probably for the first time?).
"Nehemiah said, "Do not grieve, for the JOY of the Lord is your strength?"
[Nehemiah,Nehemiah.8:10 NIV.].
2. Zechariah (Luke.1: 5-23).
Briefly: Zechariah the priest with his division of Abijah went into the Temple to serve the Lord.
11. Then an Angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.
12. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear.
13. But the Angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.
14. He will be a JOY and delight [LOVE] to you, and many will REJOICE because of his birth,
15. for he will be great in the sight of the Lord.
He is never to take wine or other fermented drink,
AND HE WILL BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT EVEN FROM BIRTH." .....................................THE SPIRIT AND POWER OF ELIJAH.
[The Angel of the Lord, Luke.1: 5 - 25 NIV.].
This little, rather insignificant looking three letter word, "JOY", can open up the doorway of worship to Heaven if you will let the Joy of the Lord be your STRENGTH.
3. The Lost Coin (Luke.5: 8 - 10) is well worth a look,
"In the same way, I tell you, there is REJOICING in the Presence of the Angels of God over one sinner who repents."
[Jesus, Luke. 15:10].
What started out as a look at a little three letter word JOY has opened for me a new open doorway to worship in the Heavenly places. If of course, I let the joy of the Lord be my strength!!!
Please help or bless me by adding here your blessing that you have received, or want to receive connected to Joy or the words like Gladness and rejoicing describing JOY?
Joy to the World is about to come again. Just maybe we can have a little of it here too!!!
1. Joy!
2. Gladness and a cause of Gladness!
3. To rejoice!
Rejoice in the Lord always I say REJOICE!
Yours, in His Joyous Name.
