I believe it was 8
Ishmael by Hagar (Genesis 16:15-16)
Isaac by Sarah (Genesis 21:1-3)
Keturah bared him: Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. (Genesis 25:1-2)

Excellent, logos! Did you know that off the top of your head? Most folks think Abraham only had two children, but of course he may have had many, many more than just eight from the concubines he had while married to Keturah.

I knew Abraham had more than 2 sons, but had to check the reference to find the whole number.

Remember before Ishmael Abraham had no children. The Bible records the following:-

GE 15:2 But Abram said, "O Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?" 3 And Abram said, "You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir."

All of Abraham's other children were born after Sarah died.

How many we don't know.

Like Ishmael none of these children were the children of the promise. Only Isacc was under the promise that God gave to Abraham and Sarah.

These children would have gone on and populated the land that would become Israel and of course be given to the descendants of Issac's son Jacob.

Another piece of trivia. Esau married a daughter of Ishmael.

GE 36:2 Esau took his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite-- 3 also Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
