Addiction

So this is going to be all over the place, I apologize in advance as this is my first prayer request.

I just started a new relationship with the lord, which is amazing!!!!! I pray (talk to him) throughout the day & read his word, however I take part in alcohol & different drugs. I’m afraid and confused as to how he can still love me & how I can still have a relationship with him when I still do these terrible things.

I would love the support and prayers from anyone who reads this. I don’t want to keep going backwards, I want to grow with Jesus. I need to stop being selfish.

( if anyone has gone through this or is currently going through this I would LOVE to talk with you, I’m a very open person. ) I’d appreciate any feedback & prayers. You all are amazing!!!

perhaps remind yourself of this:

I don’t want to keep going backwards, I want to grow with Jesus.

each morning and even add a reason why? [ for example... for He is my Lord and He loves me so! ]

Perhaps add a tune to it and sing it out loud!
and dance a bit, with a skip of joy!

Remember that God loves you. He just does.

Of course it's not his will for you to be addicted to substances or to alcohol, because its destructive and can have powerful control over you.

But equally, I'm sure that he never despises his children while they are trapped in addiction. He's dealt with the shame and you can come to him freely.

If your addiction is long standing it can take a long time to deal with it. On average people go through rehabilitation seven times before they break free. (And sometimes people are miraculously released overnight).

Keep close to Jesus.

A man is declared "righteous" (to be in right standings with God) the moment he confesses Jesus to be his Lord and savior. "Sanctification" (to make holy) takes a lifetime, in which only God can do if we allow him.

Before I was saved, I use to smoke marijuana with a friend of mine, and we would take turns reading the Bible to each other. It pretty much scared the hell out of us, especially reading the old testament judgements of God!
Not long after that, we both gave our hearts to the Lord more than 40+ years ago.

I have been set free of drugs and alcohol by the mighty power of Jesus. I was a hard core user and drinker. The only way to be set free is to let Jesus change you, he takes away the desire to use or get drunk. he can do it instantly but I think in most cases it takes time.

Right now you have to try with all your might and will and strength to give this lifestyle up, you have to believe. I suggest if you are truly serious and really want this, FAST FAST and get on your face and pray to God to help you.

Right now you probably cant see life with out using, but Jesus will change your whole mind set, but it starts with you.

I used drugs and alcohol everyday for over a decade, and was set free of this bondage, that miserable lifestyle, but only through Jesus Christ changing my heart.

You can maybe quit on your own with your own will power for a little while, but the desire will still be there and you will still be a slave to it, and eventually slip up. You need Jesus to change your heart and take away the desire, PRAYER AND FASTING if Jesus said to his Deciplies some demons do not come out with out fasting.

Matthew 17:21
"But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."

Time for you to take action !!!! my prayers going out to you
