“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written,

“For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” (Romans 8:31-36 NASB’95)

Sometime this morning, before I even sat down to look at the next Scripture passage, the Lord put an image in my mind (in black and white). It was of a crossroads with multiple vehicles in the intersection coming from all four directions (North, South, East, and West), and they were facing each other, but all were at a standstill. And all the vehicles reminded me of ones from the late 1920’s/early 1930’s, and they all looked the same as each other.

This was the time period of the Great Depression (1929-1939), which was under the leadership of two different presidents. The first was Herbert Hoover, from 1929 to 1933, and then was Franklin D Roosevelt (FDR) from 1933-1945, during which time America got engaged in WW2 (1939-1945). And many people believe that is where we are again today, or that we are headed soon in that direction, largely due to the decisions of world leaders.

And the Scriptures warn us of such a time as this in the last days, of a beast coming up out of the sea, and of a second beast coming up out of the earth, which had two horns like a lamb, but spoke as a dragon. And the dragon (Satan) gave his authority to this first beast. He was given great power and authority over the people of the earth, and those who worshiped him said, “Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?”

And this beast will be given authority to make war with the saints of God (true followers of Christ) to overcome them, and authority over all the people of the world. And the second beast will deceive the people on the earth (not all, for there are believers in Jesus present). And then the people will make an image to the beast and all who worship him not are put to death. And all are forced to take his mark on their right hand or forehead.

And at this time no one will be able to buy or to sell unless they have the mark of the beast. And there are many different interpretations of what all this means, in practical terms. I tend to see the “mark of the beast” more as a characteristic trait or influence, resulting in people becoming like the beast in nature and in thinking and in believing and practicing, and that this trait would be on their minds and/or on their deeds, but it could be physical, too.

But the point of it all is that we are not to adopt the ways of the world into our lives. We are not to live under the influence of the world and worldly thinking and practices and behaviors. And we are not to worship human beings who could be serving the devil but who are putting on an image of being followers of Jesus Christ. We are not to make men our gods and think that they are our “saviors” from what ails us as the nations of the world.

But back to the image of the vehicles all in an intersection facing one another and at a standstill, it not only reminds me of the world situation and America’s situation during the time of the Great Depression and WW2, but it brings to mind where we are, as a nation (the USA) today. For if you follow the news at all, it appears that our nation and other nations of the world are in this intersection facing one another and at a standstill. This is what I see.

But they all looked the same. And this brings me to this “beast” (Revelation 13) and its rule over the entire world. So many of these nations’ heads could all be actors playing their parts in a very wicked scheme for the conquest of the entire world in order to bring us all under this rule of “the beast” and its one world government, which is where we are headed. And the standstill could be a standoff where no one gives (yields to the other) which results in world economic collapse, which would have been the objective all along.

In all practicality, the US government, under D Trump, is making some very serious decisions, not only impacting Americans, but impacting people of other nations, too, which could backfire and not be for the good of anyone. And today or tomorrow they must finalize their budget for the year, which could severely impact America’s economy and people’s lifestyles, and could bring about another recession and/or government collapse (the plan).

I am not God, so I cannot say with any certainty how all of this is going to pan out, but I do believe we are living in these last days before the return of Christ, and that presently there are many indicators that we could, indeed, be moving into this time of the rule of “the beast” and of a one world order of government and one world religion (of sorts), and an economic collapse and a time of depression the likes of which most of us have never seen.

So, we find our encouragement in the Scriptures. The Lord warned us that we would face times like these, and he warned us of what will take place in these last days before his return, so it should not take us by surprise if, all of a sudden, everything collapses before our eyes. We need to face that reality, whether or not this is the exact time when this will take place. But if our lives are surrendered to Jesus Christ, and death to sin is our practice, and obedience to God is our practice, then nothing can separate us from God’s love and grace. Hard times will come, but Jesus will see us through it all.

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
