[It is] better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man. [It is] better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in princes. Psalm 118:8-9
Who is the most famous person you've ever met? Was he or she an author, musician, politician, intellectual, or extremely wealthy? Did he or she make any promises to you? If so, did you take them up on it? And did they keep their promise?
Conversely, who is the least famous person you have ever met? Maybe he or she is an elderly relative, neighbor, or church member. Did he or she ever tell you something meaningful? If so, did you believe them? And, were they telling the truth?
When it comes to trusting other people, the old adage is apropos: "Consider the source." It doesn't matter if the person is famous or obscure. The key question is: Are they trustworthy? While you may sometimes have a hard time judging the trustworthiness of others, the Bible, Church history, modern biography, and contemporary experience constantly reaffirm the Lord's absolute trustworthiness.
Granted, God gets blamed for a lot He didn't actually do or say. Still, if you take Him at His Word, as stated repeatedly in the scriptures (not half a verse here and there ripped out of context), you can sleep well at night.
Prayer: Lord, thank You that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. I trust You always.
