1 John 3:4 Question
What is the result of my coming to Jesus Christ?
------------As I yield my life to Him, He gives me the power to keep the law through the Holy Spirit.
------------It is not that as Christians that we are lawless. That is free to live any old way, to indulge in our fleshly appetites.
------------We are free not to live any old way, but free to not live the old way.
Half truths are very dangerous. They can be the worse form of a lie.
------------Christ has freed me from the curse of the law, True.
------------Keeping the law will not justify me before God. True
------------The law expresses God's desires for me, how He would have me to live. True
1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Now if a believer were to sin, he “transgresses” or breaks the law. If we completely disregard the law or have no accountability (which is what I’m trying to say.) then it would be impossible for a believer to sin regardless of what he does. How about this statement: If a person sins, then they are not believers. In light of 1 John 3:4 which if any of these two are true statements? You’re welcome to provide one that would put into context the standard of behavior acceptable in light of how this world has turned good to evil and evil to good and not use God’s Law as a reference point (Keep in mind the word Love as seen scripturally verses how the world would sees it and defines it.)
