Flames avoid 3 Bibles during 4-hour inferno that destroys home

HERNDON — Only three Bibles, found placed in different parts of her father’s residence, and her mother’s jewelry survived a blaze Saturday morning that destroyed a double-wide mobile home in southern Northumberland County, Carol Rickert said.
“This house is burned to a crisp,” Rickert said after the 7:30 a.m. blaze at the intersection of Hooflander and Slutter Valley roads in Washington Township.
Not one of three Bibles were “touched by flames,” she said.
