Then the angel spoke to the women. "Don't be afraid!" he said. "I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. Matthew 28:5-6 NLT
God very often extends invitations to receive encouragement. But it’s possible for you to miss the invitation—or maybe you just refuse to receive it. Sometimes you’re confused enough that you don’t understand the value of what’s being offered.
A group of women arrived at Jesus’ now-empty tomb and received an unbelievable invitation to receive encouragement. They were disheartened because they were certain Jesus was dead. They were dismayed because they wanted to honor Him but He wasn’t there. They were confused because meeting an angel wasn’t something that happened every day. Circumstances caused them to delay their hope acceptance speech. They failed to recognize encouragement.
Were they even listening when the angel told them, “He is not here. He was raised, just as he said. Come and look at the place where he was placed.”
Think about what distracts you from accepting the encouragement God has waiting for you. When you identify the distractions, then you can do something about them. You don’t have to let them stick around or keep you from the great things God has for you.
Prayer: I don’t want to be confused, Lord. I don’t want to be distracted, dismayed, or disheartened. Help me recognize that You want to encourage me.
