For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged." Romans 3:3-4 NKJV

We live in a time and culture where Jesus’ prediction in Matthew 24:12 is partially fulfilled: "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” God’s church is being tested and culled, and many are leaving their faith because they’ve been convinced that they are more capable of love and grace than God Himself.

When people reject the gospel, it doesn’t mean something is wrong with God’s good news. It just confirms what Romans 3:23 says: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We should stand on God’s truth and call them up to His standard in as gentle and respectful a manner as possible, because verse 24 remains true too: “They are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

If we stay true to God and His Word, we will be able to find ways to love the most challenging of people, including waffling brothers and sisters, without forsaking God’s unchanging truth. He is your anchor if you will ground yourself in Him.

Prayer: Lord God, be merciful to us, especially in Your church. Help us seek what matters to You—unity in Christ, grace in nonessentials, and sacrificial love for those who have gone astray.
