I promised nicholas I would post a prayer request for him today. He hasn't been on much recently as he is still in agony.
First the good news - for those of you who know nicholas, you will know he had many surgeries just before Christmas on his knee. He has now found a new team of doctors who have found a hidden tumour that is the cause of all his problems. They have already started him on a new treatment regime.
However he is travelling to Dublin today and will have gruelling surgery tomorrow (Thursday). The following will give you an idea of what he is to go through.
"They have taken me in for short periods of intense treatment. This week they will paralyze me literally from the pelvis down as activity in both legs is causing inflammation around the site of the tumour. Once they get better imaging three surgeons will be involved in the operation. Orthopaedic, neuro and plastics to rebuild the tissue .The risk of infection is too great to do a normal biopsy - you remember the infection triggered by the last surgery almost killed me. I am on oral anti cancer medication and wear lignocaine patches over the area to locally anaesthetize the core site. Still I depend on Morphine in significant doses."
Please remember Nicholas in your prayers. As he said an infection the last time nearly killed him. It is only the grace of God that gives Him strength to put up with the pain he is in.
