Do you remember the 70's ?
Dear Brothers and sisters;
Ah, the 70s, yes! :shade:
1970 was the era of the
"Jesus Children".. Young men and women in their late teens to adults would go down to the beach, the forest, the city parks, and pray, study the bible, and get baptized while in the waves of thy beach, lakes, and rivers.
Rock music was very, very, creative then and today that era of music is still timeless, however, in
1972 :note:
Godspell, Maranatha and Vineyard Music :note2: were the early pioneers and inspirations of today's Christian Praise, Contemporary, and Worship music.
During high school in
1974 I played in a hard rock band. My hair was down to my shoulders, bangs were long, wavy combed back, Levi Strauss jeans, blue tshirt, green army jacket, and leather boots. I noticed 2 guys and 2 girls sitting together having a conversation. I knew them since
junior high school and they were
Christians. I went up to them and asked them, why do you all go to these bible studies and why do you have what looks like a fish on the back of your parent's car? I will never forget the looks in their eyes toward me, all
8 eyes!!! They looked peaceful, glowing, angelic, and the looks on their faces at me looked calm and loving. They were all smiling at me and one of them told me, remember the
Doobie Brother's song,
Jesus is alright with me, Jesus is my friend. I was drawn to this and wrote another song about what I experienced.
That day always stayed with me. Hmmmm..
Was this a witness to me or what? Was the seed planted? I was
17 then.
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4
Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey Him - to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen. Romans 16:25-27
Ah yes, the 70s left an impression with me..
Your servant in Christ Jesus.
