First grasp that prosperity or to prosper is not simply about finances.
A prosperous man is Well in His mind, spirit, health, relationships and so much more. Finances are just a little piece of prosperity.

Second..its better then saying what the devil wants one to say. Ohhhh I am sick or I can't hear God or I just can't think and on and on and on.

List everything Gods Word says we are and have.
You will find those confessions are not far fetched.

Blessings

Hi Alan, I know you from the late Bruce Moen's board.

Many evangelicals mistakenly dismiss meditation as a perverse practice adopted from eastern religions or the New Age movement. But the Psalms often make it clear that our prayer life is defective unless we "meditate." The best analogy for clarifying biblical meditation is the image of a cow that slowly chews its cud before swallowing and then regurgitates it the chew on it again. But the Psalms approve only positive affirmations of biblical truths and promises; so I'm not sure how Christian some of the affirmations you mention are--not that they're necessarily wrong!

I have a bipolar Christian friend who is heavily medicated and has spent a lot of time in psychiatric institutions. He often hears sinister voices scolding him for being Satan himself! In that disoriented state, he can't think clearly enough to claim God's promises of protection and love. So he has taken my advise of creating Power Verse cards and putting them in his shirt pocket for easy access, when he feels the onset of dark voices. Together we select positive biblical texts on which he meditates during the good times, so that their truths can protect him during his psychotic episodes. The power verses he finds particularly helpful include:

"I can do all things thorugh Christ who strengthens me."
"In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."
"Don't worry about anything, but in everything...let your petitions be made known to God with thanksgiving."

Power verse card like these have been effective weapons in his spiritual warfare arsenal and have greatly diminished his problem with accusing voices. Because he has a high view of the authority of Scripture, he find it import to draw his positive affirmations from the Bible rather from pop psychology.

the bible teaches us to be content , Joel message appeals to the flesh not the spirit. we should pray for him and those that cannot discern his message.

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

2 Corinthians 12:10
For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

1 Timothy 6:6-9
Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment,
for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

this parable comes to mind

The Pharisee and the Publican
9And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: 10“Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11“The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12‘I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ 13“But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14“I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Greetings friend! Without knowing more about the man, Joel Osteen, I personally have a problem with too much usage of the pronoun, I, speaking favorably of what I am.
If I am anything that is at all good, it is very simply because of God. For that we most certainly should always give Him the glory. Who else has alone done anything really good?

"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." Matt 5:5

"For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted" Luke 14:11

I don't know how Joel Osteen teaches it. How does the Word teach it? All these positive affirmations are only of use if you know that it's Gods Word...So...What does the Word say?
I am Justified (Romans 5:1)
I am Sanctified (1 Corinthians 6:11)
I am a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17)
I am partaker of His Divine Nature (2 Peter 1:4)
I am redeemed from the curse of the Law (Galatians 3:13)
I am delivered from the powers of darkness (Colossians 1:13)
I am led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14)
I am a son of God (Romans 8:14)
I am kept in safety wherever I go (Psalm 91:11)
I am getting all my needs met by Jesus (Philippians 4:19)

So here are ten things that the Word says about us...Is Joel Osteen wrong? If you speak what God speaks....ARE YOU WRONG?

I am nothing with out Jesus I am sinner lost with out Jesus !!

So when they take the word I AM and use it to glorify them selves and the congregation with out giving credit to Jesus it is about the flesh and not about the spirit

this man has written a book called "BEST LIFE NOW" , if your going to hell this is your best life now

well sorry but my best life is when I receive my glorified body and am with my savior.

You're right Dave...We should say "I is." Or "I are" What I'm saying here is that you, Dave, are a very smart man, but you're letting stupid religion get in your way.

I have rejected everything Bruce Moen stood for or wrote. He died a very sick lost soul I should never as a born again Christian been a member of his forum. By preaching the Gospel I was banned from the forum praise Almighty God in Jesus Holy Name!

You really need to switch to decaf Dave!! Lol

The book is about learning how to have the best life now in Christ rather then live defeated now and wait for heaven.

Sounds like the NT to me

2 Timothy 4:3
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,

Jesus says His mission is to bring "abundant life" to people. Many Christians I know embrace the Gospel, but lack the drive, curiosity, and initiative to pursue "the abidance life." Instead, they are so legalistic, so averse to travel,, hobbies and recreational pursuits that they live dull, depressing lives with very few friends. That is he major problem that Joel Osteen addresses very effectively, so that he has one of the greatest TV audiences. So I applaud him for that, despite areas of disagreement.

So Dave....Are you saying that to repeat what God says about you is a bad thing? Would it be better to speak death over yourself? More holy?

Far to many are constantly speaking what satan says to be concerned with what the word says.
