What does the word “Free” mean to you?
Romans 3:23-24 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”When we here the word “free” we almost immediately think of cost. We associated this cost with us, i.e. “What is the cost to us?” In Romans 3:24 the word “freely” can also be translated “without cause”. One of our greatest struggles is to stop seeing eternity from our limited view and see it from God’s unlimited view. What if we read Romans 3:24 from God’s view? After all from God’s view is how this verse was written. The focus would be shifted, from us being free, to God’s grace. We could then get a better understanding of this verse and be able to say, “I have been justified without cause, by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” We did not cause our salvation nor could we. There was, from our view no cause, reason, terms of our salvation. From God’s view, it was by His grace. When we stand before God it will be “without cause”, solely by Grace.
