And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife. Genesis 3:21 NLT
Meet the woman who gets blamed for everything. "If only Eve hadn't eaten the forbidden fruit." Not that Adam helped matters any! Who knows what life would have been like without the original sin? But Bible readers do know what life is like afterward. And, like Eve, you know that God will not forsake you when you sin.
As soon as Adam and Eve ate the fruit, they experienced the bitter aftertaste of sin--exposure, shame, and physically painful consequences. Quickly, God also gave them the taste of forgiveness. Later, after a sobering discussion, God would give them coverings for their physical nakedness.
First, though, God gave them hope for their souls. His forgiveness did not undo the damage, but He promised that one day the serpent and sin would be defeated by the Lord Jesus. In the meantime, despite the presence of sin and death, humanity would continue--with Eve becoming the mother of all people.
Your sin brings pain to you and others. Like Eve, you can be confident that God will do more than just forgive you. In fact, the Lord promises one day to remove the curse from the ground (Romans 8:20-23) and live with His people once again in the garden of eternity (Revelation 22:1-2).
Prayer: Lord, transform me. Like Eve, I know for certain that You forgive even the worst of sins.
