"Soon I will die, going the way of everything on earth. Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the LORD your God has come true. Not a single one has failed! Joshua 23:14 NLT
Joshua was a strong man of faith if ever there was one. From his youth as an assistant to Moses, to his clandestine exploration of the Promised Land, Joshua had showed himself faithful in service, brave in battle, and mighty in faith.
As the new leader of Israel after Moses’ death, Joshua had many compelling reasons to be afraid. Like a good soldier, however, Joshua said “yes!” to the orders of his Commander to “Be strong. Take courage. Know my word. Obey my commands. Do not be afraid. And do not forget that I am with you!” (See Joshua 1:2-9).
While obeying God’s orders, Joshua proceeded to conquer the Promised Land, proving that all God’s great promises will come to pass. Later, he could confidently tell God’s people. “Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled” (Joshua 21:45).
Now at the end of his life, Joshua held out the same challenge to the Israelites to “be strong. Obey God’s word. And don’t forget that the Lord is with you to fight for you!” (See Joshua 23:6-11).
Prayer: Lord, You want me to continuously seek You, live in Your presence, trust Your promises, and meet every challenge. Yes, I will today.
