SignUp Now!Not enough to listen to anything Billy Graham has to say, he is a great compromiser and should be ashamed
A person will be lonely listening to BG. CS LWS also is a comprimisor anyone who drinks from his cup of Pagan and Christian broth mix will find themselves dying of spiritual thirst. God has spoken to us in these last days through his son if people ask of his son for drink they shall never thirst and never be lonely for the father and son will come and abide in you.
Hi Stephen I think you need to calm down and have a cup of tea. Before you go and attack you need to do some investigation. If you go on any search engine and type Billy grahams catholic connection you will find pictures and quotes of this mans compromise with catholic doctrine. Evangelical institutions have examined his doctrines carefully. Did you know that BG has recieved many catholic honours awards. Catholic doctrine preaches another Christ. To have two witnesses write the same thing should give you cause for inquiry. I loved BG sermons he was so charasmatic for his time but I do believe the wind has changed for him. We are to test the spirits doesnt matter who they are. I am an ex Catholic and by the grace of God he released me from her clutches. Matthew 24 :24 For there shall arise false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, If it were possible, they shall DECIEVE the very Elect. We must be governed by the Holy Spirit which leads us into the truth and not be led by emotion.
There seems to me to be something missing from this. The article lists five kinds of loneliness
- Loneliness of sorrow
- Loneliness of sin
- Loneliness of being despised and rejected
- Loneliness of death and judgment
- Loneliness of deciding for Christ
But misses out the most obvious. The loneliness of being alone, of having no-one to talk to, to share secrets with, to depend on, to share life with. God's observation is that "it is not good for man to be alone".
Being a part of God' Kingdom should open us up to a new relationship with God and to new relationships with each other. No?
It is not impossible, is it, for a person to belong to Jesus and yet feel very alone?
There are very few of us who can honestly say they could live a full life without human relationships. Everything I read in the Bible - especially in the New Testament - suggests that God's plan is for his people to grow closer together.
A right relationship with God is not a replacement for our natural friendships. And if we are missing out on human relationships then it is natural to feel the lack - loneliness. It does not seem biblical or pastorally sensitive to me to suggest that if someone feels lonely, they are somehow not right with God.
-- oh, and the Billy Graham question. The opening post has a link to a Billy Graham article on being lonely.
