Avatar or No Avatar Thread Thumbnail?

Greetings everyone,

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

Please let me know what you think of this new avatar feature I might enable. It's called thread avatar. Basically, it shows the user's avatar that started the thread, in the thread listing pages

Attached are images of the original (now) and the example as well if enabled. What do you think?

At the end of the day, people have been using avatars all along either in the form of a snapshot or a graphic such as a cross, verse, a name, etc. One movie comes out and suddenly an avatar is a "must have" item. I give up, what's the catch? Cheers, John
