Band-Aids Can Fix Everything
- August 05, 2005
I remember a time when a Band-Aid was a surefire cure-all at my house. I had a house full of preschoolers so there were plenty of skinned knees and elbows. But I must say, there was never a boo-boo so great that one of those strips of padded plastic couldn't fix it. If the Band-Aid happened to have Barney or Superman on it, the healing powers increased about seven fold. Miraculous!
It was amazing to me, too, that as soon as I bought a box of the coolest bandages, some kind of injury surfaced. What timing I had! Interestingly, some of the injuries were not visible to the human eye. I often wondered how an invisible boo-boo could require six Band-Aids, but mine is not to reason why. Mine is just to peel the paper and affix the Barney where it hurts. Nope, I don't understand it. But I just don't have to. It works.
How wonderful that the Lord's understanding is infinitely bigger than mine. Psalm 147:5 says, "Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit." (NIV) I don't have to understand the details of life. It's enough to understand that whatever the situation, whether I'm facing the visible or invisible impossible challenges of this life, in His understanding, He knows exactly what I need. There's no limit to what He knows, and there's no limit to His mighty power. He has everything needed to meet every need. There are no "impossible" challenges to Him.
So I really don't have to fret about the things I don't understand. I don't even have to fret about the aches and pains of living in this temporary body. Verse 3 says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." (NIV) You have to love that! Praise God for holy Band-Aids of the all-mighty kind!
