This may be a stupid question, but do you have to be baptized to be a christian or get into heaven? I haven't been baptized. Should I be?

Baptism doesn't bring salvation, but placing your faith, your life, your everything, in Christ Jesus, and walking after His steps brings salvation, but salvation brings baptism, it would be a question if you decided to give your life to Christ but refused to be baptized.
Matthew28;19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"
Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said to them 'Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of of sins, and ye shall recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost'" Matthew10:24 " The disciple is not greater than his master, nor the servant above his lord"
If we follow after the steps of Jesus, and call Him Lord, should we also not be baptized, because He was, or are we above Him that we can not also be baptized.
Praise Jesus, Glory be to God our Father. Blessings and peace be to you in Jesus name, amen

nope i dont think you have to be baptized to come into heaven...
what counts is that you let jesus ín your heart and asked for his forgivness...
thats what i think really counts...

god bless

Hi, welcome here,

I only know one vers in the bible, wich says something about beein saved through baptizmn, in 1 Pete 3, 21:

and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge[e] of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.

You are saved, because you believe in Jesus! But you can confirm it by baptismn, to show the world, you belongs to Jesus! It's the normal way of christians. So why do you wait? Go and get refreshed! lol

Hi Natashia,

I agree with the previous posts, baptism doesn't save you, but now that you do believe and are saved, it would be great to be baptised as a public declaration of your faith.

As we are immersed, during Baptism, it is symbolic of our dying to our old life, and when we come up out of the water it is symbolic of our new life, renewed and washed clean from all sin.

All believers should be Baptised in obedience to Jesus command.

Natashia, a couple things to add....

We are told in the New testament to be Christlike. Remember, Jesus was baptised at the beginning of His ministry by John the Baptist.

BUT, it's not necessary to get to heaven. When Jesus was crucified, He told one of the two thieves beside Him, "today you will be in paradiase with Me." Jesus made this statement to someone who apparently wasn't baptised.

Some Great Responses

One thing to think about in addition to all of the great answers. So many of the denominations want to agree to become a member of their church before they baptize you. But remember to be baptized is not a statement that you are now in compliance with all the doctrine of a denomination. But a public statement that you wish a new life; so being raised up from the grave (baptizimal waters) death to the old life and into a new life in the body of Christ. All our brothers and sisters in Christ belong to the body of Christ, with Jesus at the head.

Just wanted you to know you do not have to be a perfect person to be baptized.
