The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, But the righteous are bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1 NASB
What does it look like for the righteous to be bold as a lion? Abraham Ben Moses is a good example. He’s a Christian apologist who was arrested in December 2017 in Indonesia and is currently serving a four-year jail term. His crime? He shared the Gospel with a Muslim taxi driver.
As of this writing, Voice of the Martyrs was ministering to his family and encouraging fellow believers to reach out to government officials and to Moses himself.
If Christianity became illegal overnight here in this country, would you continue to share your faith, knowing you too might end up in jail? That’s not to say you shouldn’t be wise as a serpent and as a gentle as a dove. Then again, at some point you need to speak the truth of the Gospel, and it could cost you everything.
Thankfully, if you live in the United States, you don’t have to worry about such persecution—at least not yet. The most you’ll have to deal with is mockery. So, Christian, how bold are you in your workplace? When you are with friends who aren’t Christians yet?
Prayer: Lord, I’m not as bold for the sake of the Gospel as I ought to be. May I care less about the mockery I might receive and more about the lost.
