Hi,

Im in the process of breaking off from my friends, they are a hindrance in my persuit of a christian lifestyle. I have no problems letting them go, its them that wont let me go. regardless of how persistant I am that I want to separate from them, I just cant seem to get the message across. Im praying and have been praying about it for a while, but I would greatly appreciate some backup especially seeing as they are getting into drug culture, alchohol abuse, sleeping around and carrying occult influences. Thanks for your time, also, if you have something you need prayer for Ill pray for you and you pray for me

warm regards
Riku (RiSo)

Will pray for you Eclipse, remember to love and pray for those friends, even though you don't want to be part of their activities.

God bless your heart

Thanks teraside, I will do just that, I still care about them, but sometimes you just have to do whats right regardless of how tough it is. Thanks again

God bless

i had to break away from my friends too but now im not sure did i make the right choice

My paster gave a chat this week touching on this subject -she told us how she too was in that postion and she felt her friends were getting in her way of God . But God told her to stay with them and ride it out ,in the end all of her friends were saved every one of them,

Although they laughed at her for a long time ,she showed them how much better her life was, once they began to see her in a whole new light they wanted to feel the peace she had and soon they gave there lives to Christ

I have a friend who is a pasters daughter. I met her 7years ago i was not a good friend to have at this time and im sure her parents were worried about our friendship, but she never lost touch with me ,she never stoped praying for me and when i rang her to tell her i had found Jesus Christ she cryed and told me she had never given up hope,

Instead of running from our friends mabey we should stay and keep praying for them, God will bring them home too,
God Blessxxxxx

It certainly seems a difficult thing to do. I have non-Christian friends, who although are not bad people, don't live their lives the way Jesus would want them to. Today I was offered new tv episodes on a pirate dvd which have aired in America and won't be here for months, but I said 'no thanks' as to my mind, it is stealing, and I think they were a little taken aback. I don't want to offend them, or make them uncomfortable at all, but am not sure how to broach things with them. We work together which makes a bit more difficult. I guess I will make the best of it, and hope that they come to see the truth too.

Eclipse, I will keep you in my prayers. We have to do what is right for our growth in the Lord. I was in a similar situation and I knew my weaknesses and just could no longer be around partying people or in those situations where I might give into temptation. The following verse is often used to refer to dating and marriage, but I think can pertain to other relationships also.

2Cor 6:14 'Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what does righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?'

Like Teraside said, we can certainly pray for our friends and be good witnesses for Christ whenever we see them.

Hi Eclipse,

I am aware of many other Christians who felt that the right decision for them was to distance themselves from their non-believing friends. There have been many times when I have become disolussioned with friends and family myself. It can feel very issolating at times when we are in presence of such corrupt influences. My thoughts are with you. May the Lord guide you to do what is right for you and your friends.

I will pray for you and your friends.

God Bless

Eve:love:
