Butterfly with a broken wing
by Harry Toye
The child’s face shone innocence and joy
His mum cried with pride when she heard him sing
His impediment wouldn’t hold back her precious boy
A child with a disability is like a butterfly with a broken wing
Whether he’s deaf, blind or lame
Sympathy wont help, won’t do anything,
All he needs is a true friend, worthy of the name
To help spread his damaged wing.
Wonder not whether he’s big, small, fat or thin,
He’s just as beautiful as those who are able
Look beyond the broken facade at the love within
Discern his heart, disregard his label
