Q: Can we be saved without humility?
Unless we humble our selves and become like little children we will not enter the kingdom of heaven (Matt.18: 3). Furthermore, in order to accept what God has promised us we must be meek (Matt. 5: 5).

Q: How do we become humble?
We must allow the Spirit of God to lead us (Galatians 5:25); look out for the interest of others over our own (Philippians 2:4); and forget ourselves and follow Jesus (Luke 9:25). To follow Jesus is to do as He did.

Q: How did Jesus show humility?
He emptied himself, taking the form of a slave; and humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross (Philippians 2: 6). He did this in order to free us from our sins that we committed against Him.

Do we have faith in Jesus and can we be saved if we do not humble our selves like Jesus did and offer our lives for the service of those who hurt us?

Very nice. Short and sweet, and true.

Thanks for posting this. The opposite of humility (if I'm not mistaking) is pride.

Psalm 10:4
In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

Proverbs 29:23
A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.

my poor grand parents think that if they dotn go to church but live a good and simple lif ethen all things will be possible anfd they will get to Heaven... they are Christians but they dotn go to church... what does this mean??

Love Simon!!!

I used to deal with a little bit of pride, not a great deal but any amount of pride is wrong, through god I have become humble! in certain situations with problems with my parents I would usually stick up for myself but god has taught me to become humble and it actually helps to create peace. whilst I still have a small amount of pride in me god is helping me work through my humility!! and I am definately getting there....

simon....yeh I think that the situation with your grand parents, maybe not totally sure but maybe they dont go to church out of pride, my best advice is to just pray for them!! I have and auntie, uncle and cousin whom im really close to (theyre my cousin and his parents) they are the same way and it really hurts me because I dont know that they are saved, I continually pray for them, invite to church etc....but im having faith that in gods timing they might come to church!

oh and they also think that it is by your good deeds on earth that get you to heaven (they are really good people) but dont realise that the only way to get to heaven is to believe in god as their lord and saviour and believe in the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross. also they dont believe in having a personal relationship with god. they believe in prayer but they only pray for things to happen, what is good though when people are ill etc they pray for them but I think you get the general idea of what I am trying to say

I know that without humility we would not have felt the need to be saved . Maybe you can be saved , but you will not grow at all without humility . Just my opinion . Mike

Salvation without humility is impossible. Admitting in our deepest heart that we need a Savior takes humility and salvation requires amitting our need for a Savior. In Philippians 2, Paul wrote: "Don't be selfish. Don't live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself.....Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. Though He was God, He did not demand and cling to His rights as God. He made Himself nothing. He took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form." (Phil 2: 3-7 NLT).

humility

Humility allowed me to seek the Saviour for His gift of eternal life. Sorrow for my fallen nature turned to hope in my redemption. Hope filled my spirit when I grew in my faith. Trials and tribulations humble my proud self and ever turn me back to the One Who covers me in His grace. May I always remember the promises He gives in His Word...without His sacrificial atonement I have no hope..but because He lives..I will be redeemed and made to see the coming of His kingdom..I love you Jesus!

Craig, I know how you feel and I believe that you have the correct response to the situation. I have grown daughter and son whom I would probably rope and hog-tie and drag to church if God would allow me to, but, in my heart, I know that that won't work. My only effective weapon is to pray for them and pray believing (Mk 11:24), not wishing.

Remember, they have until the very last moment of conscious thought to "get saved". Pray that God will be able to open up their hearts and show them that there is no such thing as a "lone Wolf" Christian - A Christian who does not participate in the activities of a local church body of believers. Christianity is a community way of life.
