All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has made to light upon Him the guilt and iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6 AMPC

As a prophet, Isaiah was able to look forward some seven hundred years not only to the birth of the Messiah but also to His dreadful and glorious mission—to take on the wickedness of humanity and therefore, suffer the full wrath of God.

Today, in the Gospel dispensation, you look backward to the cross and the work of Christ. And while your sins are indeed covered, the apostle Paul asks, “What shall we say (to all this? Are we to remain in sin in order that God’s grace (favor and mercy) may multiply and overflow? Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer?” (Romans 6:1-2 AMPC).

Sin will remain a constant battle the rest of your life, but you would do well to consider the price Jesus paid for it. You are at peace with God because Jesus satisfied His demands for justice. Live in such a manner that shows your gratitude.

Prayer: Father. You knew humanity would never follow You as we ought, so You put Your wrath on Jesus in our place. Empower me to live the Spirit-filled life in such a way as to bring honor to Your name.
