Christian time v Jewish time

I have read that a jewish day starts at sunrise and ends at sunset. So if we take today for example (thursday), come sunset tonight it will be Friday in the eyes of a jew. Does christian time work the same way or should a chritsian stick to the standard 24 hour format when a day end at 2359 and begins at 0000.

Actually - I think i can answer this question myself in that I am a christian and not a jew so I should stick to the normal "days". So our day starts at 0000 and ends at 2359. Any comments would be more than welcome though!

This is really an awesome thread, I like to live like the Jews to call my morning sunrise the start of the day, it's not the way I was raised, it's illogical, but it's the way I like it. I spend some time past 00:00 on weekends in front of the pc, so if I am awake and look at the time, I don't like to think it's Saturday, but rather Friday night.

To answer your question, I don't believe it's Christian or un-Christian, I'm not aware that the Bible says we have to follow the time schedule of the world or whatever time schedule. The Bible says in Genesis 1 that God created the Sun to rule over the day, and the Moon to rule over the night, he called the day day, and night night.

So in a Christian perspective, don't worry about it. God knows your heart and intentions, He doesn't care what time frame you believe in.

It does matter.Jesus made it so,we as humans have changed it like everything else we mannage to corrupt because we are corrupt apart from the Father.
Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
An actual "day"(24 hr period) begins at sundown untill the next sundown.That is a day.Afterall there was darkness first before daylight.
The holy days are based on this.
Please note I said holy days and clearly not pagan holydays.There is a difference!.Not just in spelling but in rightiousness aswell and the plan of the Father.So be it!

So why does it matter? Jesus made the whole earth and everything in it, including us, he made iron, sand, sillica, all the ingredients to make a watch, be it analogue or digital, we use it, that matters I don't see where it matters what time you believe in? Prove it.

What would you make of the first chapters of Genises, where the scripture records "the evening and the morning were the first day" etc.

if you follow the jewish traditions (wihch is rare in israel as much as i can see it) then you belive that if now is sunset the day changed. but.. the jewish times and dates a re rarely used by most of the society. we except this dates to follow the (jewish) holidays as the date wich traditionly are. (diffrent calender) and in the day of kippurim for example (which is starts on 30 to sept or 1 oct) the fast (i belive this is the correct spelling) starts in the eve before the actual day. and so it is with each holiday it starts on the even of the day before the date of celebration. and finish in the last eve... but basicly we (in the none traditional society) follow the christian times and calneders (but have the holidays by the jewish times).

our days are the same,
but since the bible and in the bible a day change after the sunset.
