Church and Gossip

Good day, everyone...

I was once a member of some organizations in our church. However, after about four years, I left them, because most of them said bad things to one another and I can't help but to be sad about it.
The other reason was that, they gossip to each other. I myself is a gossiper who is now still struggling to break the habit, and the environment they had pushed me down further.

Did I make the right decisions? There is another church in which I want to participate into, although I don't know if it will lead me on a right path.

Jesus tells us that what comes out of our mouth is the sin.
We are human and fellowship and groups does lead to idle speech.
So simply listen to Jesus and believe him. Take that to heart and simply do not do it.
Do not let the idle sillyness of others influence you and do not judge by idle gossip, as it will always be.

I look at it this way, If I cannot say something good, then just say nothing at all.

Hi! Im Jhen, from the Philippines as well. :) Kumusta?

I can relate a lot in your situation, I have been going through these things myself, Its really heartbreaking and disappointing to see the people you look up to in church having these kinds of attitude. But I tell you that you will easily stumble if you keep looking to them instead of looking towards God.
Do not let this stop you from seeking God.

I advice that you stay away from these gossipers, this is what the Word says;

Proverbs 20:19 NIV
A gossip betrays a confidence;
so avoid anyone who talks too much.
Proverbs 20:19 NIV
A perverse person stirs up conflict,
and a gossip separates close friends.

About your previous church if this is the only thing that keeps you from going to that church, please start praying and concentrate on the doctrines that they teach instead. Focus on the message they deliver on the service and not on the gossips they deliver on the sideways. I am also pretty sure that there are other members you can talk to and not just gossip with, so give it a chance. You may need to talk to the minister or pastor of that church about this, if it still bothers you. But please focus on the Gospel and not the gossipers.

About going to the other church, keep praying and asking God wisdom about this decision. Its not going to be easy,sooner or later you will find some flaws in that church too. There is no perfect church, but we have a perfect God who makes it work. As a member of the body of Christ we have certain purpose for being a part of His church. Wherever God will lead you make sure that you serve Him and not the people. Keep your eyes straight to Him. Abide in His words, study the scripture yourself, communicate with Him through prayers & know His will through reading the Bible.

I will keep you in prayers aswell.
