What does being religious mean to you? I believe that Jesus came to fulfill the law, but not abolish it. He ended the various destructive man made traditions.It is easy to vilify 'religion' without saying that that means.

There is a spirit of religion that fights the Spirit of God. There exists a group of evil spirits which inspire loyalty to religious concepts and practices in such a way as to oppose and possibly to counterfeit the true work of the Holy Spirit.

Here is how you will recognize the different characteristics of such spirits:

1 .Fear of not being good enough

2. Fear of people---and what they think

3. Performance, not grace-based living:The religious spirit seeks to have us serve the Lord in order to gain his approval, rather than from having received our approval from the cross of Christ.

4. Emphasis on External Things

5. False Prophecy

6. Emphasis on traditions

7. Emphasis on ritual, special rules and regulations.

8. Pride in personal sacrifice

9. Lack of mercy, and the concern for the needs of people

10. Hypocrisy (play acting)

11. The love of religious power, but the rejection of the power of Holy Spirit

12. Jealousy and envy

13. Despising of people

14. Blindness to the works of God and denials of the same

15. Inordinate fault-finding, and accusative

There are some Christians who once were Jews and come to churches ans have a Passover meal with the people. What a wonderful way to praise the Risen Lord jesus Christ. Your positions on this thread are very solid and i totally agree!
