I thought I would write just a short post about how college can destroy your faith, if you are not careful.

Today in English class we were give the assignment to write an essay about a debatable subject. One girl mentioned divorce. The professor ask her what she thought about the subject. She told him she thought it was wrong because the Bible said so. He told her that we could never use the Bible for factual evidence because it is just a book of "religion".

Well you know me, I spoke up and said "No, it is not just a book of religion, it is a book of absolute truth." I could tell that made the professor mad by the look in his eyes, but he could not say much because he would get fired for talking too much about religion.

Then he went on the subject about who wrote the Bible. He said that some people say that God wrote the Bible and some say that King James wrote the Bible. I once again spoke up and said "King James did not write the Bible, he approved a group of men to write the Bible and God did not literally write the Bible, the Bible is God inspired.

2 Timothy 3:16
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" KJV

Then a student in the class room said, "I think everyone in this town is brain washed into Christianity." Of course, the professor said, "Yes, very good argument." Lol, I again said, "What if you were born in an atheist family, would you be brain washed then?" Then went on to tell him about my dad and how he told me God was a myth. The professor will probably be hard on me the rest of the semester, but to tell the truth, I don't care. Standing up for God is worth it all in the end.

The point is, you better be ready for people to question your faith. People will use big words and try their best to convince you that what you believe is just another "religion". Don't let them get to you and I suggest for you to have an understanding of your faith. At least enough to stand your ground and not be spit on.

Let's see what the Bible says about these "smart" people.

1 Corinthians 3:18-21
18 "Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;" KJV

The wisdom of the world is foolishness with God. Remember what Jesus said about being as humble as a child?

Matthew 18:4
"Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven." KJV

Unless you humble yourself as a child, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

As Christians we must educate ourself about the Bible and about science that can prove God's existence. Be ready for anything and be prayed up, so God can give you strength for anything you might face.

1 Peter 3:15
"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" KJV

Love in Christ and God Bless

Cody I'm proud of you for standing up for your beliefs. Just remember that if he does make it hard on you in class that God will be there for you. Just to pray and to love our enemies.

for me i like people that question my faith with modern philosophy. for me i am not tempted to belive it and it doesnt unsettel me. it just makes me stronger in my faith. but for some its good to guard your hear from outside influences (expecialy those in an athority position)

I totally agree with you Cody.
For me it's really hard because I'm surrounded by a whole generation of non christian people and sometimes I feel really alone. Well I know God is always by my side, but well when I'm going through hard times in my faith it's just not easy.

I'm very blessed by your testimony there, and I feel like I wanna be able to have the strenght to do as well as you did. Thanks for sharing!
God bless you so much!

your sis, Haynaru

Thanks, Haynaru. We need to be praying real hard for our generation. You know what is cool? We both got Born Again in 2002.

God Bless you too, sis:love:

Yes, we have to pray for our generation. There's so much need, and its sad to see close friends in college that are so lost. I think I'll start to pray for this much harder from now on. I feel like God is doing some work in me right now, so I trust that He will change a few stuff there at my college.

Yeah! That's cool Cody! 2002 was a very special year for me, I got saved in the beginning of 2002 so, that year was the beginning of my beautiful story with God. That year I started to get to know the amazing friends I have now. It's just so nice to look back and to realize how we are now, how we have grown in Jesus. This last 5 years have been just amazing, and it's all thanks to God!

Blessings to you Cody! Im sure these years have been amazing for you too!

your sis Haynaru

I agree, when I first got saved, I didn't know much of anything about the Bible. My parents never really took me to church when I was little. The only time I went was on Easter with my grandparents. But, when I was around 12 years old, my grandparents started going regularly and took me with them. I'm so blessed to have grandparents that took me to church as a child.

So, today I believe I have grown more in Christ and have a lot more knowledge about the Bible than I did, but I still need to learn more and grow more in Christ. Keep me in your prayers, sister and I'll do the same for you.

God is so good!

Sure I will pray for you bro!.

I think we will never stop learning from God. And that's a great motivation to keep spending time with Him. We will learn a different and new thing about Jesus everyday, He's a whole world of grace and love. You know, lately I've been feeling so happy about that I met the Lord at a so young age! that's an awesome privilege to have! I know my life would have been way too different. And it's the same for you!

We are very young, and we have a long road to run through and I think we should take advantage of what it has been given to us.
Support and love each other.

Blessings!

Wow, its good to read that the young ones are so on fire for God.

God bless all of you, it brings comfort to me to know that there are teenagers who put God first.

This Generation does have hope, when you make a stand.

You kids keep praying...
Your parents should be proud.

God is Good.

Bro Cody, I love to hear about young people that will stand against the system for Jesus Christ. I too have witnessed this in college.I understand that the professors have to be careful what they say in the schools today but the fact still stands that we have a freedom in this country to stand for Jesus Christ. I thank God for the Christian teachers that are out there that dare to stand. Jesus set us as a light in a dark, dark places. May the Lord help us all to let it shine for Him.
