Compassion is understanding and caring when someone is hurt or troubled, even if you don’t know them. It is wanting to help, even if all you can do is listen and say kind words. You forgive mistakes. You are a friend when someone needs a friend.

Psalm 86
15But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

Psalm 111
4He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

Psalm 112
4Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

Luke 7
13And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not

Mark 1
41And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

Hebrews 4
15a For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities




If we have sympathy for a person its just feelling sorry for them. But compassion is different. It's true that it produces a desire to act in some way to help them.

1 Peter 3
8Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:




We should be more like Jesus in this way. When we have the compassion of Jesus in our lives His power will flow through us to minster to them. And Yeshua, you are one of them who cares for others and shows it - a great example for us all.
