Confused

How do we distinguish the guiding ways of God, from the misleading ways of the enemy. I recently got engaged after a very bumpy road, but with apparent signs from God, and praising and good wish from true Christians...but am feeling freaky, like I have commitment issues. I've also recently felt that Jesus is working in my life & very joyful about the Lord. Please help. Thank you...

From what you're saying it seems like you ARE happy but just curious in knowing how to discern between the Holy Spirit's voice/thoughts and the devil's thoughts in your mind. Well, first thing first. The Word of God (aka Bible). The more you read, the more you will know between what is right and wrong, what is GOD's will and the devil's will. Second, prayer. The more you pray the more you will be filled with the Holy Ghost (assuming you walk righteously with GOD). Third, Church (and other 'godly' surroundings). Be near godly friends, people as much as you can. Keep out of ungodly situations (example: bars, clubs, etc). That "closes the door" so to speak on the devil.

I feel horrible, b/c the bumpy road that got us where we are today was b/c of certain feelings like this going on, and I'm kind of afraid to mention to this to my fiance for fear that he will get upset. I wouldn't blame him...I have a history of this, and have jaded him somethin' bad.
I think one of my problems was b/c my family has tried to turn me against him, & I am very suspectible to their feelings on things.

The best thing to do is pray to GOD. Do this continually and have FAITH (remember, Faith is what makes the prayer valid). Just believe in your heart that GOD will take care of this in whatever awesome He chooses.

Adia don't worry this is normally fine BUT it is our effort to grasp the Word of GOD (reading and praying) and GOD will guide us. Faith is the key!

Hello,
you have got some great advice. Find the promises of God relating to the problems your having. For instance, you are seeking His guidance, well
Isaiah 48:17b says,
'I am the Lord your God who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.' NIV version.
Now stand on this promise, memorize it forever!

Also Romans 15:4 says that everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance + the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.' You have a question about your life + what's right, what's wrong, go to His word, He left it to teach us.

Psalm 46:1 says 'God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.' 2 Corin 1:4 says He comforts us in ALL our troubles so that later on we can comfort others with the same help that He has given us!

Stand on these promises they are from God and He never lies.
Finally, let me share these words of Jesus with you;
'Pray Always + don't give up.' (from Luke 18:1)
