This post comes from my heart. I hope people will take a step back and reflect on it.
We are all at some time going to have our beliefs challenged if you feel threatened or scared by this you will tend to react by attacking or belittling the person. We have seen it here sooooooo much haven’t we. So if you feel your cherished beliefs threatened then take my advice do not reply to the questioning post until the day after you read it.
That is the advantage of using boards it's not like a live chat, you are under NO pressure to give an immediate answer. Give yourself some time to allow the emotions to come under control give yourself time to organize your response, Think about it for the rest of the day, try praying a little.
Remember the person you have a difference with usually holds his position honestly. It's your job ( If you are convinced of the righteousness of your position) to do your utmost to patiently persuade the other of its correctness.
I have been reading many threads on these boards and I always look out for the one who throws the first stone. They immediately damage their position and standing in the eyes of many people who are visiting and reading the posts. We are only human and emotions get the better of us some times, but when you play the man instead of the ball then you give others the impression that you do not have the right Spirit, and therefore, do great damage to your position. If your position is the correct one then you have just failed our Creator in a big way. Think about it.
Proverbs 28:25
He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the LORD will be prospered.
Proverbs 22:10
Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave; Yes, strife and reproach will cease.
2 timothy 2
24And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
